Homemade Applesauce

My homemade applesauce is easy to make yet very nutritious. It is made with just two ingredients. Farm picked apples and raw apple cider. That's it friends.
Servings: 4 Cups

Ingredients

  • 12 Medium Apples
  • 1 cup Raw Apple Cider
  • 1 tsp Cinnimman (optional)

Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • Food MIll (optional)
  • Apple Corer

Method

  1. Core and wedge your apples. Toss them in a bowl of lemon juice water, to avoid browning.
  2. Add the apples to your crockpot and then pour in the cider.
  3. Set your crockpot to low setting and cook for 2-3 hours.
  4. Once they are soft and mushy, turn the crockpot off and let cool for approx. 10 minutes.
  5. If you've left the peels on, remove them.
  6. At this point, you can fill your jars with the applesauce and can it or place it in the fridge.
  7. If you want it a smoother texter, you'll need to puree it.

Notes

Applesauce will keep fresh in the refrigerator for up to a week. It can be frozen for up to 6 months. See my notes above on freezing.
