Classic Homemade Hummus

Classic Homemade Hummus

Classic Hummus is great as n appetizer or I love it with lunch or dinner. I dip warm pita bread in it and seed oil free chips.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 4 People

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chickpeas (cooked or canned)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Lemon (squeezed)
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Tahini
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Parsley (finely chopped)

Equipment

  • Blender

Method

  1. Add the olive oil to your blender.
  2. Combine the chick peas and Tahini to the blender and blend until creamy.
  3. Next, add the remaining ingredients and blend it all together.
  4. Now, pour the hummus into a pretty serving bowl.
  5. Garnish with paprika and/or chopped parsley. If you have any chick peas left over, add those on top as well. I like to add a few Kalamata olives.

Notes

  1. If you want to use dried chickpeas, just make sure you soak them the night before. Cook them in a pot of boiling water and simmer for a few hours or until fork tender. I would peel the skin off as the hummus will be extra creamy.
  2. If using canned chickpeas, you’ll want to drain them for this recipe.
