When springtime comes around, most people think of pink, yellow and purple. I do use those colors subtly as accents but my main focus is on Cottagecore Spring Decor. I’m excited to share with you how I add other colors that you might not expect.

First things first, after taking down the previous season (which is Winter in this case), I always clean and give my home a fresh new space. Some things stay up year round and that’s ok. I don’t overly decorate each season. I just like having pops of items sitting around corners or in little pockets or cubbies.
Fall is my favorite season and last year when I started putting my decor up in the totes, I decided to leave a few pieces out. I looked around my home and thought, “this will go good with all the greenery, wreaths, red, gold and so on. What I’m referring to is the “brown gingham” print . I’m finding I absolutely love it for Fall, Winter and now Spring.
What is Cottagecore Decor?
Cottagecore decor is rooted in rural, pastoral, and traditional American/European countryside vibes—think picnic blankets, aprons, curtains in old farm kitchens, or vintage tablecloths. The neutral and brown variation leans warmer, more grounded, and autumnal compared to classic red/white or blue/white, giving it a cozy, earthy feel that’s perfect for evoking a “lived-in” countryside cottage or modern-rustic home.
Brown gingham and earth tones add that nostalgic, romantic rural charm with a slightly muted, nature-inspired twist (pairing beautifully with florals, wood tones, vintage linens, and potted plants). It reminds me of an English Cottage or even a Colonial Revival home.
A brown floral or gingham print is such a sweet, grounded choice for spring decorating — it adds warmth while still feeling fresh and cottagecore-inspired.

How Long Do you Keep Spring Decor Up?
Here in the South, as soon as March 1st hits, my Winter decor gets packed up and then I bring on all things Spring. I’m ready for warmer and brighter colors, open windows, flowers blooming and hearing all the birdies singing.
I’ll usually keep all my Spring decorating up until the middle of May. After that, I start adding all of the American decor for Memorial Day and that will stay up until the end of August. I tie in Red, White and Blue plus I’ll add some subtle pops of yellow for Summertime.
With Easter switching sometimes from March to April, (I keep my crosses out year round) and then bring out this Resurrection Nativity, where we can roll that tomb away on Easter morning. After all, that’s why we celebrate Easter. Sure, the bunnies, carrots, ducks and birdies are pretty but I don’t get hung up on them as we get closer to the actual day of Easter.

A brown floral or gingham print is such a sweet, grounded choice for spring decorating — pair it with some neutral colors and it adds warmth while still feeling fresh and cottagecore-inspired. Here are some beautiful ways to use it in your spring decor:
Wreath Accents
- Tie a soft bow at the top or bottom of a grapevine wreath. Place it on your mantle for a pretty Spring accent.
- Pair with faux tulips, peonies, or small white blossoms for a simple Spring look.
- Let long ribbon tails hang for a relaxed, romantic feel.

Tier Tray Styling
I don’t have one of those tiered trays but if you do, this would be cute:
Use skinnier ribbons tied around:
- Mini clay pots stuffed with green moss
- Small pitchers
- Wooden bead garlands
- Add little bunnies, carrots or a brass duck
Cottagecore Table Charm
I like to set crocks, pitchers, vases, etc. all around my home on small tables. I’ll place them either empty or some have flowers in them. Tying a simple brown gingham ribbon around the neck of the vessel just gives that extra warmth.

Curtain Window Detail
If you have neutral curtains, this would be so cute. Tie ribbon loosely around sheer/linen curtains instead of traditional tiebacks. If you do this in September for Fall decorating, it makes it so easy to carry this into Spring without all the extra work.
Pillows
I have Spring colored pillows on our sofa but here are some cute ideas to add extra warmth:
- Sew or pin a simple brown gingham strip across a neutral pillow.
- Tie a removable bow around a cream or tan colored lumbar pillow for a seasonal change. Add different colors throughout the year.
I also love this brown gingham pillow on my antique bench. Pair with a vintage wood bowel filled with jute twine carrots. It adds a cottagecore pattern without overpowering.

Basket of Blankets
If you are like me, you already have a basket filled with as many blankets as you can stuff in it somewhere in your living room haha.
- You could tie a wide brown gingham bow on the basket handle. Layer it with a chocolate velvet ribbon for a deeper look.
- Let the ribbon tails drape over the blankets
The Perfect Spring Treat
Try making this Sour Cream Lemon Pound Cake this Spring. Top with fresh strawberries, blueberries or peaches. Don’t forget the homemade whipped cream!

- Cream & soft white
- Dusty pink
- Sage green
- Pale yellow
- Soft blue
The brown gingham ribbon gives a cottagecore feel — cozy charm without being overly pastel. It’s not trendy but timeless. Look at that cute brown gingham lamp shade below.

What About Adding Brown Floral Items?
Yes, use antique brown pitchers or floral dinnerware. It pairs well with the brown gingham ribbon. I even love this brown floral mug I found. It doesn’t matter if you live in a colder state or a warmer one like I do. The richness of the brown paired with the pops of pastel colors throughout your home keeps with the coziness of the cottagecore style during Springtime.

This is such a cozy aesthetic. There is something really freeing about embracing a simpler lifestyle and letting go of all the excess. I have found that the same principle applies to the paperwork side of life too. Simplifying where you keep your legal address, especially if you work remotely or travel, makes everything from taxes to mail so much easier to manage.
