I love thinking of how our ancestors decorated and celebrated Christmas. They used items they already had on hand. So, let’s make a simple garland.

Grab a roll of jute twine. With a large needle, thread fresh cranberries on the twine.
Attach fresh rosemary sprigs and dried oranges with little clothespins. It’s super easy. Have fun with it!
.
Hang them all over your house. Every time you walk by you’ll get a nice smell of Christmas! One more thing….. these little garlands can be left up even throughout winter.

Happy December friends! What have you got planned this weekend?

We are having our business work party tonight so I’ve been busy getting ready for that. Head to stories tomorrow and I’ll share some of the fun stuff we’re doing.

I love decorating our mantle with simple Christmas decor. I keep my pewter up year round and then just add in greenery, dried oranges and my quilted stockings. Christmas from days gone by. It will also make it easy to just remove the stockings for some winter decor after the holidays.

I finally have the tree decorated and if you’ve been here a while, you know, we built a house a few years ago and when we moved in I couldn’t find our ornaments. So, we went a few years without ornaments on our tree until I could find them in the barn tucked away in a box.

Most of these ornaments I’ve had for 28 years (since I got married). I have one of mine when I was a kid and I have some of my children made when they were little. Displaying these ornaments makes our tree so special as each one has a story behind it.

Sure, I love seeing all the pretty uniform trees, but there’s nothing like staring at our tree and reminiscing of years past.

Are you still trying to figure out how to cook your turkey? 🦃🤔 My daughter and I have come up with an awesome brine that we soak the bird in overnight. She then does her magic and puts it on the smoker in the morning. The absolute best way to cook turkey!

What are you thankful for this year? I’m beyond blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in my life. We’re having 20 people over tomorrow and can’t wait for all the food, fellowship and fun!
