These days I’ve been spending a lot of time out

These days I’ve been spending a lot of time out here. With daily harvests and tending to all my flowers, it’s my favorite place to be. So many pollinators too. It clears the mind and it’s a good workout haha.

It’s going to be getting hot soon and I keep telling myself I’m going to give my beds a rest the entire month of July. I have a lot of work though in order for that to happen 🥴. I think I’ll be trying to get out here early mornings or late evenings.

It seems like sourdough bread is all the rage now but is it really healthy for us? Sure, you’re going to be able to digest it better than regular store bought bread but…..

Freshly-milled 🌾 wheat flour has so much more nutrition than if you’re using all-purpose. It actually has 40 of the 44 essential nutrients that our bodies require. That’s huge folks!

Have you tried grinding your own flour? If not, feel free to DM me and I’d love to share some tips with you. I’ve been grinding my own wheat 🌾 for 12 years now. Best decision I ever made. I do love making my sourdough breads. I use a combination of freshly-milled and an artisan bread flour in mine so we get the nutrients. I also still love making all my fresh-milled whole wheat goodies. I work both in when it best fits my schedule and yes, we eat my bread (in some form 😉) everyday. 🥯😍🍞

I canned a family Italian spaghetti sauce back in February and it really comes in handy when you need a quick meal. It took me six hours to make a big batch and it made 7 quarts.

I’ve changed the recipe a little bit as I don’t you crisco oil or sugar 🥴. It’s delicious and reminds me of Sunday’s going out to cousin Bruno and Mary’s farm when I was little. Add your meat, fresh mushrooms, serve it with a salad and a warm baguette 😋.

I made a Patriotic 🇺🇸 rustic sourdough loaf today in honor of all the men and women who fought for our country during the Civil War. I wish I could bake each one their families a loaf of bread ❤️. I’m so thankful and grateful for their sacrifice so we can have freedom. Let us remember the soldiers from the Civil War along with others that have died serving our wonderful country. We really should celebrate Memorial Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸 the entire month of May! ❤️

On a side note, I need to make USA a little smaller for when the bread expands next time haha. It was fun playing around with this score.

Happy Memorial 🇺🇸 Day friends! Today, we will remember those who died in the Civil War, which ended in 1865. This claimed more lives of so many men and women who bravely fought for our great country 🇺🇸. The Civil War is what began our national cemeteries.

My dad was in the Army for 20 years, fought in Vietnam for two tours. He is now buried at our Florida National Cemetery. Let us remember these amazing heroes today! 🇺🇸❤️
