It’s time for our Summer 🇺🇸 Patriotic Decor! I’m starting on our big ‘ole front porch.
.
It’s a new season and I love decorating the porch this time of year. Even though it’s hot hot hot here in the Summer, we love honoring all our fallen heros on 🇺🇸 ❤️Memorial Day and then celebrate our great country in 🇺🇸July!

I made the switch to raised beds (from in ground gardening) about 5 years ago. I loved my wood beds in my garden but after 3 years, well, they fell apart. They just can’t withstand this Florida heat. We decided to re-do the entire garden. My husband, myself and kids got to work. I found these amazing steel garden beds called Birdies. Have you heard of them? They are built to last a good 20+ years and they are non-toxic. That’s huge to me!

Now, on to my top 3 reasons why I switched.

1. When you get your veggies off the ground, pests are less likely to get on what you are growing. I kid you not, I haven’t found one bug since I started planting in my new beds last September.

2. Weeds - I have only found 1 or 2 here and there in all of my beds. Now, I do have a good organic compost that I filled my new beds with. I also use an organic fertilizer but I’m not seeing any in raised beds as opposed to when I did in ground gardening.

3. My final reason why I switched to raised beds is because they are just so pretty took at. Raised beds give your garden clean lines and keeps everything uniform. The longevity is what also sold me on the Birdies. 😍

Our Farmhouse Porch. One of my favorite spots in our home and what better time than Springtime. We hang out here all the time, whether it’s just Bill and I or a big family gathering.

Our porch gives us a chance to slow down after a long day of working. Sitting out here just takes the worries away. It really does. 😍

You need pollinators in your garden so make sure you plant lots of sunflowers, marigolds, zinnias, chamomile, milkweed and herbs. Plus, all the pretty flowers just put a smile on your face. 😍

Pollinators, like butterflies and bees will allow your fruits and veggies to grow at a much better yield.

I love Springtime here in the south. Our weather has been so nice the past few months. All of my flowers and fruit/veggies are doing great. Harvest is just around the corner. The butterflies 🦋 and bees 🐝 are zipping around all over the place too.
.
P.S. I think my only favorite laundry day is linen day. I seem to get it done when I’m outside near the clothesline 😂.

There seems to be a controversy that you can’t have nutritious baked goods using freshly milled flour. That is so not the case.
.
I’ve been grinding my own flour for 14 years. You just have to use the right flour. To make yummy nutritious, desserts, use soft, white flour.
.
